Marina Peterson (PhD, University of Chicago, Anthropology) is Assistant Professor of Performance Studies in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts at Ohio University. She works on performance, music and the contemporary city and has published articles on musical performance and the production of space, global city formation, and urban civilities. She is currently completing a book on civic performance in downtown Los Angeles. As a cellist, Peterson plays primarily experimental contemporary and improvised music. She has performed in the United States and Europe. Composers and musicians with whom she has worked include Jonathan Chen, Gene Coleman, Mike Cooper, Luc Ferrari, Geoff Gallegos ("GG"), David Grubbs, Charlotte Hug, Mazen Kerbaj, Jonathon Kirk, Toshimaru Nakamura, Ossatura, Rahzel, Jane Rigler, Jesse Ronneau, Domenico Sciajno, Christine Sehnaoui, Sharif Sehnaoui, Fabrizio Spera, Chao-Ming Tung, Taku Unami, Raed Yassin and Michael Zerang.
